Celia Smith - Principal Psychologist - 0466 788 106
Celia is an engaging, motivating, results-focused psychologist. Celia has a military background and has particular expertise in working with armed forces, emergency services, mining/gas and medical personnel and people working in high-risk conditions.
After a successful career as a commissioned officer in the Australian Army, Celia worked in a range of industries globally, and gained an MBA. Years of experience working in high-stress, high-stakes environments lead Celia to an interest in psychology, which she studied at Monash University and Bond University. Her research on the psychology of decision making in first responders was presented at the Clute Institute in the US.
Celia specialises in working with adults. She works forensically and collaboratively – helping clients to understand what’s going on for them – and then working together to find effective solutions to help them move forward with their lives.
Experienced in working with complex psychological conditions, including trauma and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Celia also works with clients dealing with key life stressors and difficult events using techniques such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).
Celia is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, Australian Association of Psychologists Inc, EMDRAA, EMDRIA, System Leadership Development Association and Disaster Response Network. She currently divides her time between private clients, government agencies and working as a clinical supervisor.
